Let us desire nothing else.
Let us wish for nothing else.
Let nothing else please us and cause us delight except our Creator and Redeemer and Saviour, the one true God, Who is the fullness of good.
- St. Francis of Assisi (Regula Non bullata, 1221)

The Second Station: Jesus Carries His Cross
Leader: We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you.
All: Because by your holy cross You have redeemed the world.

And Pilate said to the Jews, “Behold, your king!” But they cried out, “Away with him! Away with him! Crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your king?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar.” Then Pilate handed him over to them to be crucified. And so they took Jesus and led him away, bearing the cross for himself. (John 19:14-17)

Jesus, as you accepted your cross, you knew you would carry it to your death on Calvary. You knew it wouldn't be easy, but you accepted it and carried it just the same.

Sister Moon was spotted chasing after Brother Sun this afternoon, with each of them above the horizon. I stopped to get a photo of the moon, so prominent at 5:00pm, which was rising from the east. Immediately I this verse from St. Francis came to mind. I sat and enjoyed the Brother Sun retiring for the night in the west, as Sister Moon awoke and took over the sky from the east.
